Aviva Canada has collaborated with fintech company OneEleven and recently held an event that looks into disruptive technologies that will impact the insurance industry.
The “#InsurTechCanada,” event was hosted between Aviva Canada and OneEleven. It brought together auto expert, insurance leaders, start-up companies, and tech experts to share their experiences of different industries that are facing up to disruptive technology.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with OneEleven on this InsurTech Canada series of events,” said Aviva Canada chief information officer Ben Isotta-Riches. “Leveraging the power of partnerships and collaboration is in our DNA at Aviva Canada. We’ve added tech disruptors to our list of valued partners and together we’re going to change the industry. This is just the beginning as there will be more insurtech events like these to come.”
“We’re extremely excited to partner with Aviva Canada on the event series and hackathon initiative,” said OneEleven managing director and entrepreneur in residence Haroon F. Mirza. “The success of yesterday’s kick-off event shows the value of collaboration between innovation hubs and innovative corporate partners. We’re thrilled to play our part to put insurtech on the map in Canada.”
Ted Graham, head of open innovation at General Motors, was the keynote speaker on the first day of InsurTechCanada. He spoke about tech mobility growth and how trends are affecting the market. Autonomous vehicles are one of the most well-known disruptive technologies and were a focus of the event.
Brian Kobus of MERS Ventures held a presentation that showed Canada’s move towards adopting self-driving vehicles.
Aviva Canada and OneEleven say they will continue to collaborate on projects. The companies aim to bring more development tools to start ups so they can bring their innovations to the insurance industry. One aspect of the partnership will be a joint Hackathon at the end of the year.
