Canadian car manufacturers have announced their collaboration in a campaign against distracted driving. For the third consecutive year, the 2017 Auto Dealers Against Distracted Driving Campaign will help to reduce distracted driving on Canada’s roads.

The campaign sees dealers encourage customers to make a pledge against distracted driving. Insurance companies such as Sovereign General Insurance Company, The Co-operators, Canadian AutoWorld, LoweMartin and also support the campaign.

A press release says dealers will partner to garner over 20,000 pledges from customers and staff during March. Customers how visit dealerships will make a formal pledge free of charge. The pledge will state they will drive free of distractions and will be made on a special website for the campaign.

“While we continue to see hundreds of dealers participate in the campaign year over year, our focus for 2017 is to provoke increased engagement between dealers and their customers through online pledges,” said LGM vice-president of Sales for Quebec and campaign lead Marc-Andre Lefebvre.

“By month end, we hope to surpass our 2017 goal of more than 8,000 pledges – doubling our count from last year’s campaign. I’m confident we will achieve this goal given the passionate group of dealers who have come forward to lead the charge.”
