The Government of Ontario has sent out a press release asking for recommendations for improving the auto insurance market in the province, specifically focusing on how to make the market more affordable.
Ontario is the most expensive auto insurance market in Canada, with an average premium of over $1,500. The expense is mostly from the Greater Toronto Area, where premiums can average about $2,000.
In its note, the provincial government wants to make car insurance more affordable while also improving the care injured people receive after a collision.
Ontario is seeking feedback on recommendations aimed at making auto insurance more affordable and improving the care people injured in accidents receive.
“The government is accepting submissions regarding Fair Benefits Fairly Delivered: A Review of the Auto Insurance System in Ontario. The report by David Marshall, Ontario's adviser on auto insurance, recommends transformative steps to improve health outcomes for those hurt in collisions, reduce insurance costs, and strengthen consumer protection.
The province is also consulting now with industry participants and members of the public will be invited to provide their comments on the report and its recommendations online until September 5, 2017.”
