The Toronto Insurance Conference has confirmed when it will open its scholarship program. The TIC says applications for the program are due Sept. 8, 2017.
The Ontario commercial brokers association has been handing out scholarships since 2013. Each year, the TIC hands out three scholarships per year. The program was developers to engage young people in a career in insurance.
This year’s confirmation is in keeping with the traditional fall announcements. Each year, TIC announces recipients at the John E. Lowed breakfast at the National Club. Each scholarship is managed by the Insurance Institute of Ontario.
TIC chooses the recipients based on financial need, marks, community life, social accomplishments, major honours, school contribution, and “a strong indication of academic promise.”
Applicants must be either sponsored by a TIC broker (with the sponsor being a member of the Insurance Institute of Ontario) or “able to show a clear intent towards a career in an insurance brokerage.”
Students must be in their second year of higher of full-time university, in an undergraduate program located in Canada. Recipients must continue academic growth with completion of the current school year with consistent grades in relation to previous years.
