The Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) has announced a new webinar that will be held next month and will cover the effects of hail on vehicles. The session will be titled Hail Impacts on Automobiles: A state-of-the-art-review and will be held on June 16 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. EDT.

In a release to announce the webinar, ICLR says hail storms cause significant damage to automobiles in North American each year. The institute says the total economic cost totals in millions of dollars through destroyed glass and damage to bodywork.

Many products claim to offer protection from hail, but ICLR reports that there is no current testing consensus to say whether these products work.

During the webinar, Adam Blazejowski will discuss historic case reviews or hail and how it damages vehicles. Additionally, he will offer literature on preliminary impact testing and suggest methods to developers creating hail protection products.

Blazejowski is currently a research student at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Western University in London, Ontario.
